About Best Home Renovation
Best Home Renovation is a renovation contractor with its own crew. We plan and build kitchens, bathrooms, basements and full home updates for homeowners, landlords and small business owners. Every job gets a written quote, a dated plan, and a crew lead you can call.
- Licensed and insured
- WSIB covered
- Quotes in writing
- Clean site, floors covered
- One crew lead per job
Our own crew, our own licensed trades
A crew lead is one person, not a call centre. That person meets you at the first visit, runs the site each day, and walks the finished job with you. You get their number on day one. Licensed plumbers and electricians do the plumbing and wiring when a job needs them.
We started with kitchens, bathrooms and basements. That is still most of our work. Over time we added flooring, tile, drywall, painting and whole house updates. Now one call covers the whole project. We would rather tell you a wall cannot move than move it badly.

Three promises on every job
Three things go wrong on most renovations. The bill grows, the house stops being livable, and the dates slip. Our three promises are built to stop each one. See how a project runs.
The quote is the price
Every quote is written and lists each part. If you change something, it gets a new line before any work is done.
You keep living at home
We close off the room we are in and protect the path to it. We finish by 5 PM each day. Most clients stay in the house for the whole job.
Real dates, said early
You get a start date and a finish date before we begin. If something shifts, you hear it from us first.
Eight trades, one crew lead
We do eight trades. Kitchens, bathrooms and basements are most of our work. The other five let one crew lead run the whole job, so you make one call. See what each service includes.
Covered before the first tool comes out
We are licensed and insured. Everyone on site is covered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). We pull permits for the work that needs them. We book the inspections so the job is signed off properly.
Liability insurance
Our liability insurance covers your property while we work in it.
WSIB coverage
WSIB covers every person on your site. You are never left to pay if someone gets hurt.
Licensed plumbers and electricians
We pull the permits and Ontario's electrical safety body, the ESA, inspects the wiring. You get all the paperwork at the end.
Building permits
Basements, structural changes and additions get the permit first, then the work.
How to verify a contractor's insurance and credentials
Ask for two papers and check both yourself: a current WSIB clearance certificate and a certificate of liability insurance. Then get the whole job in a written contract before any work starts. Keep copies with your house papers. A contractor who will not hand these over is one to walk away from.
WSIB clearance
The certificate shows the contractor's account is in good standing on the day it was issued. You can look it up yourself on the WSIB website.
Liability insurance
Ask for the certificate from the insurer, not a photo of a policy. Check that it is current for the whole length of your job and that it names the limits of coverage.
A written contract
Ontario requires a written contract for renovation work over $50. It should list the work, the materials, the price, the payment stages and the dates.
Your own insurer
Call your home insurance company before work starts. Some want to know about major renovations or a new basement suite.
Who pulls the permit
The contractor should apply for it and book the inspections. If you are asked to pull it in your own name, ask why, because the permit holder carries the responsibility.
