Before and after

Renovation projects

Six rooms, each shown twice. Drag the handle across a picture to watch the old room turn into the new one.

Where can I see examples of your past work?

Right here, and at your kitchen table. Ask at the site visit and we show you finished rooms close to yours. The six pairs below are illustrations of the kind of change each service makes.

Room by room

Four more rooms, same angle twice

Every pair keeps the camera still. Only the room changes, so you can judge the work and not the lighting.

Judge any contractor

How to read a before and after

Any builder can post a pretty after. These six checks tell you if the pair is honest, ours included.

  1. Same spot, same lens. The window, the door and the corner should sit in the same place in both shots. If the angle jumps, you are looking at two rooms.
  2. Look at the edges. Ask for close shots where tile meets the tub, where the counter meets the wall, and where floor meets trim. Sloppy work hides in corners.
  3. Ask what was behind the wall. A good crew can tell you what they found when the old room came apart and how they fixed it. Their answer shows the part of the job a photo never will.
  4. Look past the staging. New cushions, plants and a bowl of lemons make any room look better. Judge the joints, the trim, the caulk lines and the tile edges instead.
  5. Check the light. A dim before and a sunny after can hide the real change. Fair pairs are shot at the same time of day with the same lamps on, from the same height.
  6. Ask for the paper. Jobs that move a drain, a wall or a circuit come with a permit and an inspection. The final sign-off should exist for the photo you are shown.

Would you be willing to share before and after photos of the home renovation project?

Yes, we will share before and after photos of rooms like yours, first wall to final coat. Ask at the first visit. Ask about the edges and the permit too. A contractor who will not show past work is a contractor to skip.

Show us your before. We will plan the after.
